Education
-
Google Glass can revolutionise our education system in many ways.
-
Students who were afraid of voicing their opinions will now be able to participate through the SMS/emails.This will facilitate an increase in productivity and efficiency in communication between the teacher and students as Glass can send information immediately through text, emails or social networking sites on behalf of users through voice commands or gestures.
-
Traditional textbooks can also be replaced as students can stream videos, texts, images with Glass. Education apps can also be accessed through the Google Glass as if they were using smartphones or tablets. Google Glass can take things one step further by allowing students to interact with visual imagery and learning resources in a completely new dimension.
-
Field trips will take on a whole new dimension as students are able to get first hand information when they walk through a historic landmark. Any queries they have can be answered on the spot through the view displayed on the Google Glass.
-
There will also be more global learning opportunities where students worldwide can overcome language barriers and attend the same lectures.
-
However, Google Glasses also has its negative points as it makes it easier for students to be distracted. Also, understanding and memorisation will take a backseat to a problem solving and complex thinking. Students now can search for answers immediately with the glasses without the need to think. The value of the importance of understanding will decline as information becomes more readily available anytime and anywhere. Students may find it difficult to think and solve issues and as time goes by as they are more inclined to receiving rather than thinking and working out the answers for themselves.

Augmented Reality
The All in One - Google Glass
Medical Industry
-
The Glass could be used to consult other medical professionals for guidance for difficult surgical procedures, allowing the medical professionals to share information across borders. Hands-free glasses would be cleaner and safer to use in healthcare environments since physicians would not be touching multiple surfaces like the smartphone or tablet. This would increase the likelihood of lives being saved within the same time period.
-
There will be more engagement with patients as doctors and healthcare providers are able to have immediate access to patients’ records and uploading of data while maintaining eye contact through addressing their patients face to face.
-
A newly developed app called Farlo enables nurses to live stream video of a patient’s vital signs to doctors hence allowing doctors to assist in diagnosing patients.

Construction & Home Maintenance
With the help of Google Glass, one would also not need to be a rocket scientist to be a plumber. One would just need to be able to read blueprints and would thus know immediately which pipes need to be adjusted or replaced.A first-time plumber could receive input from Google Glass right in front of their eyes, negating the need for paper instructions or on an iPad, which could become cumbersome. Instead, an inexperienced plumber could have a video chat with a professional via Google+ and receive step-by-step instructions.

Law Enforcement
Google Glass could also one day help police officers identify known criminals through Google’s facial recognition software. Golden-i, another company in the production of virtual reality resources have already invented a headset that could be used for law enforcement. It features facial recognition, the ability to scan license plates instantly, monitor vital signs, and remotely control other devices. In the future, it is possible for Glass to have such capabilities to do so too.
